Who it suits
The cheapest way in
At $229.99 on Nintendo's store it costs less than half of any other console here, and its average of 8.4 is second only to the PS5. Tom's Guide names it its best-value handheld, and Wirecutter its budget pick.
Where it falls down. It has no TV mode: Nintendo sells it as dedicated to handheld play, and it runs Switch games that support Handheld mode. Tom's Guide also lists a small d-pad and a fit that is not ideal for bigger hands.
Where this sits against the alternatives
This product is one of the picks on Reviews Rate the $649 PS5 Highest of Six Consoles, which compares it against the others that cleared the same three-outlet bar.
