The 256GB Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL come with 12GB of RAM, where every Pixel 10 Pro had 16GB. Google’s own spec pages show both.

The Pros gain on zoom and brightness and give up elsewhere. Pro Zoom rises to 120x from 100x and peak brightness to 3,600 nits, but the Pro XL’s battery shrinks and the free Google AI Pro trial halves to six months.

Part of the $100 is storage. The Pixel 11 and 11 Pro start at 256GB where the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro started at 128GB. The Pro XL already started at 256GB, so its $100 rise buys no extra storage, and it arrives with less RAM and a smaller battery.

The RAM cut matters more on a phone meant to last seven years. Google’s update promise runs to 2033 for these phones, memory cannot be added later, and a 256GB Pro now has a quarter less of it than last year’s. To get 16GB again, Google’s specs require the 512GB model or larger.

What the AI Pro trial is worth

Google values the six months of Google AI Pro at $119.94, after which it renews at $19.99 a month; last year’s Pro buyers got twelve. Google says some Gemini features may need a subscription for higher usage but does not list which. The on-device features on its spec pages are listed with no subscription attached. Before you buy

Weigh last year’s Pro if you can find one. The Pixel 10 Pro has 16GB of RAM at every size; whether it is the better buy depends on its price where you shop. When a successor gives things up, the older model can win, as set out in when a newer model is not the better buy.

No one at bitcritiq has handled this product. Everything here comes from published sources, listed below.

What this cannot tell you: We have not used a Pixel 11. Google's performance, battery-life and zoom claims are Google's. Google's pages give no process node for Tensor G6, and outlets disagree, so we give none. Google did not publish a launch price for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold in the post we read, so we do not say whether the Fold rose. Google says only that some AI features may need a subscription for higher usage, without listing which.

How we chose this, and what we did

Why this subject: The Pixel 11 range went on sale on 20 August, and it is back in the news as the Android comparison to the iPhone 18 Pro, which CNET set side by side on 17 September. Most launch coverage led with zoom and AI. Google's own spec pages show three things that moved the other way, and a buyer comparing with last year's Pixel 10 needs those as much as the headline features.
